It only took one day for killing hundreds of innocent people all around the world: Paris terrorist attack, ISIS attack in Lebanon, bombing in Bangladesh. It doesn’t stop. It keeps going. World war is upon us? What’s wrong with the world? Is it us, human race?
That night when Parisians were shot to death by a group of extremist, narcissist who were shouting The Name of God, I hardly could sleep. No one could. The image of the tragedy haunted my night and it made me remember about one song that’s sung by Marina and The Diamonds titled Savages.
And today I would like to discuss the connection between the song and the tragedy in our modern society that just keeps getting worse.
Murder lives forever
And so does war
At least 10000 people died in current or past years all around the world due to armed conflicts. This doesn’t include the murder between the community like a young woman who killed her baby because she has no husband and money to support her own child. Another day, another war.
It’s survival of the fittest
Rich against the poor
The rich keeps getting richer, the poor keeps getting poorer. The corrupt government eats as many things as possible and leave nothing for the people in need. And in war: the more advance your technology is, the more people you can kill. And here goes the saying: The more, the merrier.
It’s a human trait
Hidden deep down inside of our DNA
It’s just what humans do. They love proving what’s right, and what’s wrong. Proving who’s the strongest, who’s the weakest. The on going competition has always been there since the beginning of time.
One man can build a bomb
Another, run a race
To save somebody’s life and have it blow up in his face
Do you still remember what happened in Boston in 2013? Yeah. The bombing during the 117th annual Boston Marathon.
Marina was inspired to write this song by this incident where more than 260 people injured and 3 died. She herself said, “It’s so hard to reconcile how one man can be running a charity race, while another man is building a bomb to blow this person up. That’s how it started, and I think it was more a result about how these same kinds of news stories keep coming up day-in and day-out.”
I’m not the only one who finds it hard to understand
I’m not afraid of God
I am afraid of man
Especially when man acts as if they are God and have the right to kill anyone who doesn’t have the same faith.
Is it running in our blood
Is it running in our veins
Is it running in our genes
Is it in our DNA
Humans aren’t gonna behave as we think we always should
Yeah, we can be bad as we can be good
There are many good people in this world. If you can’t find one. Be a good one. But you know, some people just want to watch the world burning.
Underneath it all, we’re just savages
Hidden behind shirts, ties, and marriages
Terror after terror against many people all around the world. One wants to keep the traditional marriage because that’s what God approved. And the other one wants to have the same right to marry. One that doesn’t obey, get killed. Simple.
Have you ever heard about The Milgram experiment on Obedience to Authority? This study revealed that majority of people, if gained an order from a credible authority, would subject another innocent human to a lethal punishment.
How could we expect anything at all?
We’re just animals still learning how to crawl
We live, we die
We steal, we kill, we lie
Just like animals
But with far less grace
Are we animals? Or worse? I mean have you ever read a news about a family killing their son because he changed his religion? Go to Google News. And you will find a bunch of news about that.
Another day, another tale of rape
In the states, every 107 seconds, a person will get sexually abused. That’s the reported one, the one that happens in the one of the most developed country in the world. You do the math if we sum every rape that occurred around the world.
Another ticking bomb to bury deep and detonate
That’s what happened in Syria, Palestine, and the other country in the Middle East. Some people need to chill if there are less people that care about them than about Parisian or another people around the world. The case is that it’s already happened for far too long and we know it won’t end anytime soon. We don’t care? Sir, our taxes help them who escape from the country and now they are a refugee in our country. If it doesn’t count as a help. I don’t know what will! If a flag filter on our profile picture makes you happier, I really am going to pray for you.
People just need to put their ego under their bed, or just throw it away if it doesn’t make the world any better. So sit. And get a new hobby.
You can see it on the news
You can watch it on T.V
You can read it on your phone
You can say it’s troubling
Thanks for everyone who made technology so freaking powerful and useful that we can receive 24/7 updates from all around this cruel world.
All the hate coming out from a generation
Who got everything, and nothing guided by temptation
It makes me sad how much hatred I see on my timeline when something bad happens to a country and some people then post something like “Where were you when this happened to us?” Can’t some people just chill and let other people have their moment of silence? What’s with the hate? It’s not like we are going to kill innocent people by sending prayer to the one that passed away in a terrible way.
Were we born to abuse, shoot a gun and run
Or has something deep inside of us come undone?
Is it a human trait or is it learned behaviour
Can you imagine that you’re in a concert hall watching your idol singing “…Baby One More Time” and a random person come out of nowhere starts shooting people? Because I can’t! What’s wrong with you? Even in a place that we think is safe is not safe anymore! Nowhere is safe!
Are you killing for yourself or killing for your saviour?
Stop shouting your God’s name! If you are bad, then be a bad person. Don’t drag the whole community, religion or race with you and your nasty, degenerate and self-absorbed attitude!
Happy Halloween, guys! I know it’s a little bit late. But you know what they say: Better late than never! For the past few weeks I’ve been raping my free Netflix one-month trial by watching a number of series and… HORROR MOVIES!
Netflix has a plenty number of horror movies. But well, not every single movie is a great movie though. So sometimes it leaves me a good and bad moments after watching the movies.
And to celebrate this year Halloween, I share you my personal good and bad moments from horror movie! P.S.: You can listen to Ghost by Ella Henderson while reading this list to be honest. It’s such a good song.
1. Sexually Abuse
No. I’m not talking about the backstory of a father who raped his own child that then became a ghost and haunted their father to death. I’m talking about how every single time from one movie to another that the ghost ALWAYS shows up in a bathroom. I mean, hello Sir. I’m trying to poop and it’s gonna be smelly. So you’re gonna be here and scare me? Great. Come. Scare me!
When a movie shows a scene in the bathroom. It’s going to be pretictable as hell, pun intended. The ghost will creep in, watch you shower and put your clothes on, touch your hair, your back, your toe, and finally. Surprise, they will show you their ugly face in the mirror. What a narcissist!
I mean seriously. If a ghost touch me when I shower, I will call my lawyer. Why can’t I enjoy a shower after a very long day though?
2. “Surprise, Btcih. I Bet You Thought You Saw The Last Of Me”
Madison Montgomery said those lines in the eight episode of American Horror Story: Coven. One of the most famous quote from the series. I have mixed feelings about this type of moment in a horror movie to be honest. You know, when you think the ghost already gives up and disappears and decides to leave you living a peaceful life. But then, one week later, three months later, one year later, three decades later, they be like “Surprise, Btcih. I bet you thought you saw the last of me.”
One time you will be like, “YAAAS KILL THAT PERSON NOW.” Another time you will be like, “Oh God, What have they done to you!!? Leave them alone. Please. Leave!” Or the movie will end by the time the actor screams and the movie fades to black and you have wished you never wasted your time that way.
3. The Spilled Truth
If you know the reason why a ghost or a group of ghost hunt them down: it’s good. If you don’t know, then it’s probably the director themselves don’t know why they film the film in the very first place other than to make a few bucks. But well, horror movie is supposed to be mystery right? But sometimes it feels really good when you know the truth!
I personally want to know why The Babadook Book suddenly out of nowhere appeared in the house. Like, why not when the father still lived? Is it because Mister Babadook is the father himself who wants to bring his family to the darkness? I don’t know. And.. Why does he eat WORMS? Why not Bacon? WHY? And is there only one copy of The Babadook Book? And who did print that book? So mysterious indeed!
4. Better Than ‘God’
Oh yeah, I like it when The Bad wins against The Good. You know, that one generic scene from any horror movie where they keeps saying God’s name but the ghost is still more powerful than them and successfully killed them. Maybe if they really have faith and not only call for God when they need Him, they will survive and defeat the evil.
5. Check The Speaker!
It’s dark. The ghost already took over the electricity. They have found out the actor have a generator and decided to break it down. They already know the actor in the closet. They lock the actor up. Then it’s really quite. You barely can hear the actor breathing. You increase the volume to make sure it’s loud enough. You check the cable. It’s all alright. So where does the sound go away? When you sit again to your couch, BAAAAAAM! It works again. You saw the devil. You heard how hell sounds like. Jump scare moment!
6. I’m So Stupid That’s Why I’m In A Horror Movie
There’s a ghost beside of you! And it looks like Lady Gaga in her stolen-from-Madonna meatdress who haven’t eaten for centuries! Then why do you still stand there holding your phone and screaming like a little girl who doesn’t get candies from her daddy? RUN, sister, run!
Yeah, you always that urge to yell at the actors when they do stupid thing like standing there letting the ghost eats them up or not believing that they have been haunted by their ex girlfriend ghost. Why not? If you already saw an iPhone flying back and forth in the middle of the night. It’s either you’re crazy or there’s actually a ghost who thinks Snapchat’s logo is cute enough to be their girlfriend!
You got any moments from horror movie that you want to share? If you’re curious. I would like to recommend you watching Dark Skies and The Babadook. And don’t watch Oculus because you know it’s just stupid.
Happy Halloween! Keep haunting!
As you know, USA now is the 21st country to legalize same-sex marriage. AND THAT IS JUST VERY WRONG IN MANY WAYS. Can’t you imagine how many countries will follow one of the most powerful country in this world to make gay people able to get married?
And here I am, giving you five and more reasons I hate gay marriage and why people just need to stop supporting it!
You know, gay can spread like a virus and it can infect your straight child if gay people are around your child. Protect them. You know, it’s like when you allow your short child hanging around with tall people, it will make your short child tall. Crazy!
Gay is a crazy behavior, people might now want to marry animals, like their pet. You know why? Because your cat, your fish, or your dog can sign a marriage contract, speak English, and can drive you to hospital when you’re sick.
Yeah. Gay is a totally a disease. You are able to not to go to work when you’re gay. Because basically you’re sick “I can’t come to work. Still a lesbian.” I totally don’t care what WHO and APA American Psychiatric Association say that Gay is not a disease. Cuz, I’m more educated than them. Like totally.
Yeah, because our world needs more population. Who cares that we need to eat insects in order to survive.
Because now that it’s legal for gay couple to marry, can you imagine how women all around the world feel, that now they have less chance to marry a gay man. Yes, because totally people around the world want gay to marry a woman. And a woman is more than happy to be a wife to a gay man even though she probably won’t even be touched a second after they get married.
Just like straight people make their children straight, yes because gay all around the world came from gay couples.
Not two fathers and two mothers. You know why? Because no one will succeed without a male and a female role model at home. Just like how Marilyn Monroe, JRR Tolkien, Johann Sebastian Bach, Nelson Mandela never enjoyed success because they didn’t have a mother and or a father.
Like point number four. Gay can’t produce children to fill this overpopulated world. Marriage is about procreation you know. It’s all about that. Infertile couples or couples not wishing to have children then should be prevented from marrying too to be honest. I don’t care if they’re straight. They just don’t understand what marriage is.
Yeah because there’s only one religion in this world. And because religion is not a personal thing and you can shove it down people’s throats anytime you want and of course you can force your interpretation of holy book to other people. Because God hates gay, that’s why all of the country that supports gay marriage do better in so many ways than those countries that against it or even kill them gay people.
So what are you waiting for people? Spread the hate, not the love. Tell them that you are TOTALLY not supporting gay marriage because you just don’t want other people to be happy and live a happy life without discrimination. Say no to gay marriage! #HateWins
P.S. :Specially written for my two bisexual friends and every people around the world regardless their gender, orientation, gender, religion, etc. No hard feeling, ok? Because this is just a satire!
At the beginning of the video two girls kissing, an old man climbing the tree, a boy hiding from the bad guys, and Zedd stealing a wine from a store. A beautiful instrumental mixed is playing before the story of this characters begins.
Throughout the video, story of these characters, who seem to struggle with their life, is shown one by one. But only when the beat drops the happy experience of these characters is shown.
What can be the meaning of this video? I think it’s up to the audience. For me myself, Zedd tries to remind us, we need to remind ourselves of the beautiful moments that we have experienced in the past when we in this time face a bad situation so that we can make ourselves feel beautiful now.
A couple weeks ago, my mom was in Europe with her friends, traveling through many countries, enjoying local foods, buying some overpriced brands, and breathing fresh oxygen. I, who live in Germany, didn’t get a chance to meet my mom here, because well, Germany was not in her travel list. So, both of us decided to meet in Venice!
I took about 8 hours with train to travel from Stuttgart to Venice. First, in Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof I took an ICE, one of the fastest train available in Germany, to München before I took an EC (EuroCity) train to Venice. It cost me about €80 to travel from Stuttgart to Venice. Not the cheapest price ticket I’ve ever heard though. But it was the cheapest and the fastest one when I searched for it. If you are looking for special offers from the Deutsche Bahn. Make sure to check their web: Up to 39 Euro to Italy
You won’t get bored in the train, if it’s not crowded. You can sit conveniently while look out of the window, majestic views from the beginning to the end. Talking about crowded train, it’s crowded, you might find yourself sitting in the train corridor and need to stand up whenever people pass by. If you don’t want this to happen, you can always book a seat! It’s not free though.
I arrived around 6PM, the sun still shone. Thank God. Then I called my mom and told her that I finally here. I called her using German O2. It’s not that expensive to call outside Germany. She told me to take Alilaguna boat a.k.a. the public transportation in Venice. It cost me 7 Euro from the central station to Rialto. After I got on the boat, I finally had the chance to enjoy the Great Canal. First impression: Where’s the blue water though? The water was green. Yeah seems like they used VSCOCam filter all this time. Nevertheless it’s still beautiful tho. On your left and right side many beautiful buildings can be see from the boat. I was standing outside, I could feel the wind in my face. Such a good place.
It took about 15 minutes to reach Rialto from the main station. When you get out of the boat, you just need to walk a couple of steps to enter the Rialto Market. There you can buy many things from fruits to handcrafts. I waved to my mom when I saw her in the distance. It’s been about 7 months since the last time I saw her in Indonesia. I miss her a lot. We then went to the apartment that my mom’s friend has booked. It was a nice apartment with 2 bed rooms, one kitchen, and one bathroom. There are 9 people who stay there. Four beds are available. One in the kitchen, and one in the living room. Well it’s more like a sofa bed though.
So here’s the recap for today:
– Train Ticket from Stuttgart to Venice: 80€
– Boat Ticket to Rialto from the main station: 7€
– Total: 87€
So that’s how you spend almost 100€ to travel. But believe me it’s all worth it. Later this week I’ll post the day two recap!
